The CoastSAFE Alive project aims to develop a dynamic assessment tool that will analyse beaches, in real time, for environmental hazard factors and associated risk. The project seeks to develop a technology that will assist surf lifesavers/lifeguards, police departments, environmental departments and local counties/councils to gather and analyse information in order to manage and resource personnel and equipment to minimise risk for the beach going public.
This technology integrates the key components that add to risk in a beach environment, and has used these factors to develop a Hazard Assessment tool that can be used to mitigate and manage risk on the beach.
CoastalCOMS is developing the CoastSAFE Alive technology in conjunction with the Queensland State Government, Griffith University, Surf Life Saving Australia, Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Gold Coast City Council.
