Standard Surveillance System

  • Surveillance cameras are usually ‘fixed’ or ‘touring’.   Cameras that tour follow “patterns” for watching coastlines which include specific pan, tilt, zoom settings that show various areas.  These areas are called “presets”
  • Presets are normally static, and the camera pans to them based on time or motion detection or combinations of these two top level variables, and video is recorded to digital or analog storage.
  • Alerting based on motion is available

Surveillance System with CoastalCOMS:

  • Surveillance cameras now gain the added ability to move through patterns or presets based on what is happening in the environment of the video that is being recorded.
  • Organizations can view and record different areas or drive cameras based on multiple metrics that include things like tidal change, numbers of people in a specific area, or vessel movements.
  • This new ability to drive cameras based on what’s happening in the video also allows recording quality and speed to be changed based on dynamically identified hazards such as wave height increase or waves breaking over sandbars.
